How often should I submit my site to the search engines?
Actually, where the important search engines are concerned (Google, Yahoo!, MSN, etc), we recommend you never make any submissions! We never submit any sites; clients or our own. Search engine submissions shouldn't be confused with submissions to 'directories' (see our Search Engine Marketing Dictionary for a definition).
The best way into the search engines is by achieving incoming links to your site from related established sites (learn more about our Link Popularity Building Services). This involves a great deal more work but search engines will pretty much ignore your site if there are no incoming links to it.
WARNING: Beware of services that submit your website to thousands of search engines every month for a low fee. At best this is a waste of your money with no effect on your positions and at worst it may cause you site to be penalized or dropped from some search engines. Once you are indexed in a search engine there is no need to submit.
