SKINNY VERSION of Search Engine Optimization:
Is Your Website Lost in the Search Engine Results?
Have you ever searched for you name online? If you have a common name, you may have given up after searching through several pages. If you own a business, you don’t want your customers giving up on finding you because you are on the last pages of the search engine or going to your competitors you are ranked ahead of you. That’s why search engine optimization (SEO) is so important. Potential customers must be able to find you so that they can purchase your goods or services.
The Keys to Successful SEO
A variety of SEO techniques can be used to get you ranked higher in the search engines. However these “keys” will unlock your website to your customers.
- Keywords. These are words or phrases that directly relate to the product or service you are trying to sell.
- Key content. In the past, some web designers simply stuffed the copy full of keywords so that the search engines would find the page. Search engines caught on and now keyword stuffing can actually get you ranked lower. Write your content in a way that is creative and engaging and then make sure the keywords are there.
- Key links. Exchange links with other websites or have your link picked up naturally by providing great content.
- Key web design. Having a website with built in SEO lays the best possible foundation for further SEO work.
At A to Z NetVentures, we use these keys and other techniques to get you ranked high in the search engines.

ROUNDED VERSION of Search Engine Optimization:
Is a Professional SEO Necessary?
We all want to be number one. If you have a website, you want it to be ranked on the first page of Google, preferably at the top. The way to accomplish high search engine rankings is through professional search engine optimization, or SEO. Many companies will promise you a “number one Google ranking” or a listing on the first page. The truth is no one can guarantee a number one ranking in Google for your website. SEO is an ongoing process that requires a company that will…
- Monitor the “rules” (algorithms) of the major search engines. Techniques that used to work in getting high page rankings such as keyword stuffing no longer work. You need a company that stays abreast of the changes in search engine algorithms.
- Watch your competition to make sure you are always ahead of them!
- Use ethical, or ‘white hat’ SEO methods to achieve high search engine rankings. Some companies use what are called ‘black hat’ marketing techniques such as spamming and link farming. While these may get you high page rankings for a short period of time, eventually your website will be penalized.
- Provide references that can show the quality of their work. Many companies claim they can get you on the front page of the search engines. How many can prove they have done it?
The Essentials of SEO
If you are not familiar with the Internet or online marketing, many of the technical terms that other companies use will not mean anything to you. However, some basics must be a part of any SEO plan:
- The right keywords. These will direct people who NEED your product or service to your site. How do you know they need you? They typed in the keywords you chose for your company into the search engine.
- Great content. This may sound like a broken record, but ultimately content is what drives search engine crawlers to your site. Not only should that content have the right keywords, but it should also be engaging and interesting to the reader. Google recommends that your content should be for the reader, not for the search engines.
- Incoming links from other sites. When other sites link to you, it is a vote of confidence for your website. However, be careful not to link to sites that are considered “bad.” A bad link may be a link from a site that is unrelated to yours, spams or breaks search engine rules, and so on.
- Title and Meta Tags. These are code elements used by web developers and SEOs. In the past adding these tags into the <HEAD> section of your web page could significantly improve search engine rankings. The rules have changed. These tags must coincide with the rest of the web content, your incoming links, and more.
- Great design for SEO. Your website must be search engine friendly.
At A to Z Net Ventures, we employ all of these essential SEO elements along with many more technical techniques. We don’t make unrealistic empty promises or guarantees. What we will guarantee is that we will use every ethical SEO technique in our skill set to get your business to the top of the search engines.
